Arrive for Check in to Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa from 3pm. The perfect afternoon adventure would be to take a trip to the Shannon Blueways

Looking for adventure? Then Lough Allen Water Park in Drumshanbo is only 15 minutes from Kilronan Castle, a fun packed day in store for water-sport enthusiasts. An ideal way to end your busy day would be to make your way to the Moorlands Equestrian center for an afternoon of Horse riding, picture perfect scenery and right on your doorstep whilst in Drumshanbo.
Enjoy a freshly prepared Breakfast served in The Douglas Hyde Restaurant, and after breakfask why not drive to the local town, Carrick-On-Shannon only 15 minutes away and climb a-board Moon River for a Shannon River Tour taking in all of the glorious sights along the way.

Check in from 3pm at Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa, or arrive earlier to avail of the estates facilities. Our Award Winning Spa and unspoiled grounds should definitely be taken full advantage of once you arrive. From individual Face & Body treatments to day packages for him & her the choice is endless. Kilronan Castle is nestled in the heart of 40 acres of natural woodland full of nature trails and unbelievable scenery, we have maps available at the front desk with a range of walks from 1km to 5km. With the Shannon Blueways walks on our door step in Drumshanbo you are spoilt for choice when it comes to taking a stroll through our natural countryside. Afternoon Tea on the Lake Terrace would be a personal recommendation, the sweet delights prepared by pastry chef Peter and the panoramic views of Lough Meelagh, no better place to be enjoying this treat. Dine at your leisure for the evening from the Drawing Room Menu which has a variety of traditional Irish dishes or reserve a table in our 2AA Rosette Award Winning Douglas Hyde Restaurant.

Enjoy Afternoon Tea on our Lake Terrace with panoramic views of Lough Meelagh and then explore our estate, take a wander through the natural woodland that encases the beautiful Lake, take a moment for yourself once you have found, The Window to the World to appreciate the smaller things in life, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life as we know it.
Day 2 – Lough Key Adventure Park – There is a fun packed day day in store for you at LoughKey Forest park, located only 15 minute drive from the hotel. Why not arrange a packed lunch with our colleagues on front desk to take away with you to the park. Walk through the tree canopy, or Zipwire for the adrenaline rush! Take a boat out onto the Lough and see the 100’s of acres of lush green woodlands or on land and take a spin on a segway! Day 3 – After your freshly prepared Breakfast served in The Douglas Hyde Restaurant take a trip to the Arigna Mining Experience, located only 20 minutes from the hotel in the quaint little Village – Arigna. Here you can enjoy a truly unique tour of the original mines hosted by actual workers from the mines, a great afternoon full of history in a natural authentic surroundings. After take a short drive over to Drumshanbo, where the newly opened Shed Distillery is situated –
Making the Ordinary Extraordinary – It had to be an authentic distillery, a return to the traditional methods using gleaming copper pot and column stills, where PJ could experiment with wild grains, Irish flora, and exotic botanicals. The stills had to be state of the art to create the finest of Irish spirits. The Shed’s 5 gleaming copper pot stills – 3 focused on Irish Whiskey, and 2 on Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin – and 2 copper column stills – focusing on Sausage Tree Pure Irish Vodka – were especially made by Arnold Holstein in Germany and brought over to Drumshanbo, where PJ began his quest to make the Ordinary Extraordinary.
a Day trip to sligo
The beauty of Sligo is that it is only 40 minutes away from Kilronan Castle, it boasts some of the most beautiful coastal villages and towns in Ireland

Depart Kilronan Castle to Eagles Flying in Ballymote – here even rain can not spoil this experience, as the shows can be presented indoors.During the shows, starting at 11 am and 3 pm every day and lasting for approximately one hour, the birds are presented in their natural environment. Before and after the shows the visitors can walk the park lands and enjoy the birds displayed in aviaries or on perches close to the walking path. Staff will give information on the birds and answer questions. They also have a petting Zoo with a variety of animals waiting for your visit.
Take a packed lunch with you that can be pre-ordered at the hotel reception, to be ready for your departure for you day of activities, stop for lunch in the fabulous coastal town of Strandhill, sit along the boardwalk and take in the spectacular view of the Ocean. An Ice Cream for dessert from Mamma Johnsons is a must, even for Mum & Dad!
Continue your journey to the magnificent Benbulben Mountain that commands views of Sligo and the stunning Mullaghmore Beach, another fabulous stop off point whilst you are in Sligo. Benbulben offers various nature trails and walks, all of which vary in difficulty.
On Route back to Kilronan Catsle a great sight for you to visit on the way back would be Glencar Lough, locally known as Glencar Lake, is a freshwater lake in the northwest of Ireland. It covers an area of 1.15 square kilometres and lies mostly in County Leitrim with a smaller part in County Sligo. Glencar Waterfall is located near the lake’s north shore on the Leitrim side.
